Janine Ellyn Vance

Janine was born on January 28, 1954, and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In 1988, she moved to Mayville, Wisconsin. There, she met and married David Leroy Vance. In 2002, they moved to Youngtown, Arizona. They love it there.

English was her favorite subject in school, and she has always loved reading books, especially if the words rhymed.

She wrote her first poem: “Up in the Sky,” when she was very young and would often sing.

She passed along her love of reading to her daughter, Miranda, by starting to read to her right away.

Janine's favorite book to read to Miranda was “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss - which she would read in a very animated, overly exaggerated, and enthusiastic way. It, therefore, made sense for her to compose a book filled with rhymes.

Roses seem to inspire Janine to write poetry more than most other things. There are several poems about them in this book. The Bible has been the most influential book in Janine's life. She has a deep appreciation for its council, direction, and guidance. There are several scriptural references noted in footnotes.

This book is probably a project I began more for myself than for others. It is

something tangible, proving I have accomplished something worthwhile in my

lifetime. I have written a book of poetry! If nothing else, this book contains

pieces of me that those who have known me can keep as a remembrance after I

am gone. Other readers of my book, outside of my family and friends, I

consider a bonus. I feel honored you have chosen to peruse my collection of

poems, and I hope you will enjoy several of them.
